About the role
Toast is hiring a Senior US Payroll Specialist for its in-house North America payroll team, based in Chennai on a hybrid model. You will own the most complex and escalated payroll items, oversee processing of bi-weekly payrolls for more than 5,700 employees across the US, Canada and Mexico, and manage tax filing work with vendors. Workday is the system of record, so hands-on US payroll experience in Workday is a hard requirement. The work follows US Eastern business hours.
What you will do
- Own complex and escalated payroll transactions, including benefits-in-kind and overpayment recoveries
- Oversee accurate, timely bi-weekly multi-state payrolls for the US, Canada and Mexico
- Coordinate tax filings, notice resolution and reconciliations with payroll vendors
- Handle tier 2 payroll queries through ServiceNow tickets within SLA
- Keep Workday data accurate, run EIB mass uploads, and lead user acceptance testing for releases
What we need from you
- 8+ years of hands-on payroll processing, including 4+ years working directly in Workday
- Demonstrated US payroll and absence processing in Workday, including EIB loads and release testing
- Working knowledge of US, Canada and Mexico payroll rules, including year-end requirements
- Experience in an in-house corporate payroll function rather than a bureau or BPO
- Willingness to work aligned to US Eastern business hours
