About the role
Toast, the restaurant technology platform, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its Chennai team. The role is full stack: React or Angular on the front end and Java, Kotlin or .NET services behind it. You will design and build features with limited day-to-day guidance, consume and build REST APIs, review code, and help with production issues. The team expects engineers to use AI-assisted development tools. Toast describes its Chennai working model as hybrid.
What you will do
- Design and implement well-defined features across the full stack with minimal guidance
- Build front-end features in React or Angular and backend services in Java, Kotlin or .NET
- Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate with internal systems
- Take part in code reviews and troubleshoot production and non-production issues
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Devin to improve speed and quality
What we need from you
- Bachelor's degree in any area or a related discipline
- 6+ years of experience in software or full-stack development
- Hands-on experience with React or Angular and backend development in Java, Kotlin or .NET
- Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, Git, and Gradle or Maven
- Cloud experience, preferably AWS, and experience in Agile/Scrum teams
