About the role
Flexport, a freight forwarding and supply chain technology company, is hiring an Assistant Manager for Ocean Operations in Chennai. The role sits in its Global Operations team, which manages customers' shipments end to end. You will coordinate regional ocean freight movements with carriers, cartage partners, customs and warehouses, keep shipments on time, resolve exceptions, and work against quality KPIs and SLAs. It suits someone with several years in freight forwarding who is detail-oriented and communicates clearly.
What you will do
- Execute the end-to-end movement of freight within a regional network
- Coordinate day-to-day logistics with ocean carriers, cartage partners, customs and warehouses
- Keep shipments on time and handle exceptions appropriately
- Meet internal KPIs and SLAs and follow standard operating procedures
- Resolve client issues quickly at origin and destination and escalate when needed
What we need from you
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 5 years of global forwarding or related work experience
- 4+ years in ocean freight, import compliance or warehousing is encouraged
- Strong critical thinking, attention to detail and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office or Google apps
